when it’s said and done…………

Filed under: Uncategorized — menc @ 9:33 pm

i know this is late,

and as most of us already know our presentation night was a blast.

but there are a few things i should probably write up.

so here it goes:

problems that i faced through this process include:

  • falling off a chair in front of the whole class (yes i know i am a show off).
  • having to find a new way to start the performance
  • getting organised and pushing myself to cooperate and be 100% focused when i felt like sleeping or being a brat.
  • writing up the script and the sound scape, because of my minute attention span to consistant detail.
  • trying not to become a mega nazi bitch when it came to rehearsals.
  • relaxing~ the hardest of them all but in the end it paid off.

things i enjoyed about working in a group called menc:

  • the amount of talent shared betwee 4 people.
  • erin slipping HAHAHAHAHAH
  • knowing that we loved our performance
  • the amount of group focus we had which helped support every group member
  • getting ideas and doing the happy dance with Erin…which non one else got but, OH WELL they were fun.
  • performing on performance night because it felt ecstatic and exhilarating
  • the sound-scape…when it worked…ehehehe

finally i would like to point out each group member and thank them for a fun, frustrating and educational semester of rehersals:

Erin~ for keeping me sane and you great script writing and ability to manipulate words. your a fantastic girl who kept me sane and supported the performance 100% (i know i keep using this % thing but it seems to be working). fantastic on the night and great with you answer to our material problems and thank you for helping me work through scenes and for not doubting the ability of our group.

Claire~ for your straight face when we had to be Russians. there were so many times where i wanted to piss myself laughing but you kept it together so well. you were great when it came to committing and i apologise for being a rehearsals bitch at times. you were great on the night drew tension magnificently and had people on the edge of their seats.

Matt~were to start…probably with an apology for making you live in fear of all of us girls. you held it together even though you probably wanted to kill us all (secretly) at times when we yelled at you which happened more that was deserved. you were fantastic on the night and impressed us all.

well…that’s all from me i wish all the other groups from all the opther schools chookers and sign off for the last time……….love you all NKECHI

#IT’S OVER# MATT’S FINAL BLOG

Filed under: Uncategorized — menc @ 1:04 am

Three days ago the year 12 drama class performed their Ensemble Showcase. It was a magnificent night, with all performances being of an amazingly high standard.

Our performance went extremely well in my opinion, but the greatest feeling I had was when I realised it was over. I went backstage and their was my group smiling, we knew that our journey had come to an end.

What a journey it has been, the experience has been both physically and emotionally training, by the time it was over an end to it was all I wanted.

The past three days I have reflected upon the performance and the series of events leading up to it. I can’t believe how daunting it has been. It’s over, it’s over.

P.S I would like to thank Ms Craig and Ms Abley for their inspiration, understanding and assistance. They are they people who kept our group focused and in tact throughout. Thankyou

SO SO SO CLOSE

On Friday (Curriculum Day), the enire drama clss spent the day doing rehearsals. It was a successful day for all teams and it was nice to have a nice catch up lunch with the class. We practiced scene five mostly, a scene that has frustrated all of us.

This morning we peformed our entire ensemble to the year eight and nine drama classes, we received feedback from Ms Craig which was great.

We’re performing tomorrow night, it’s both exciting and scary.

ahhh….

well, we’re almost there, only one scene that is really bugging us and well, to be quite honest..i hate that scene..but oh well, i spose in everything there is going to be that one scene that really annoys you…scene 5 just happens to be that scene for this ensemble…however, we did have some excellent help from a former yr 12 drama-ee. (oops i think her name was emily..not sure though..AHH sorry!!)..but anyway. yes, i was really pleased that we had some help from her because it just gave us that different perspective on that scene that we needed.

i finally found some weights to put at the end of the material..finished that off tonight..so hopefully it will work out tommorow in rehearsal

i think that we are probably not doing as many rehearsals as we should, but i’m sure we will get on top of it soon…don’t worry, we’re not behind or anything, just a bit too relaxed

hmm…i’m worried about how tense everyone is going to get as we slowly creep towards the performance date..i hope that everyone in my group doesn’t freak out,as i know i won’t want to be dealing with someone else just before we go on..i know that’s a little harsh, but i also need time to collect me thoughts….

i’m hoping our group continues on in the way that we have..we seem to work together in the crucial moments…

looking forward to performing, erin:)

THE LITTLE THINGS

Filed under: Uncategorized — menc @ 12:30 am

It is the finer details which turn good into great. Our team is practicing the whole script, we are simply working on the detail, to ensure that the piece is polished before the 24th.

Today we are going to get our costumes, we are taking a minimalist approach becuase we all play multiple characters. It was decided that we go together so we could have a consesus on everything. While everybody in our group has approached this task differently, it has been the groups priority all along to make every process democratic to keep things fair for all.

10 days to go, aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh. I am calmer than I predicted I would be at this stage, most people in the class are. It seems that everybody has faith in their team members and most importantly themselves.

I don’t know what I am or should be thinking right now. All I can do is practice and support in any way I can.

ALL IN GOOD TIME

Filed under: Uncategorized — menc @ 1:51 am
Things seem to be moving on as it should. We now need to get costumes and practice as often as possible.

The fear is definately present, but is not dominating our sessions. We don’t have long now, but we have little reason to stress. In my opinion if we practice the whole thing a few more times, we’ll be ready.

At this stage all I can do is practice, because practice makes perfect.

THE END IS NEAR

Filed under: Uncategorized — menc @ 11:06 pm

As it always seems to do, time is running away from us. The ensemble night is approaching and it is bringing fear into many  a drama people.

Our group is now rehearsing the entire script, polishing the entire performance. It is looking better everytime we perform it.  With more practice the ensemble is going to be excellent.

I have been observing the other performances in our class, and they are looking fantastic. Congratualations to all.

AT THE BUSINESS END

Filed under: Uncategorized — menc @ 5:13 am

It has come to the point now where I am beginning to become stressed about the ensemble, not worried, but my heart is beating faster than usual when the word drama processes through my brain.

The script is fantasic and I am working with a exceptional team of skilled and when necessary pragmatic performers.

It seems that our mentality is being tested through a subtle series of unfortunate events, each of them has not ekiminated moral.

It had come to our teams attention today that we need to change our opening to comply with the strict guidlines we have. While disappointed the members of my team, without wasteing time started thinking of ways out of our new found situation. It is moments like this that I feel genuinely privileged to be working with the team I am.

FEEDBACK
Our class gave us feedback today which was greatly appreciated. All in all our first scene seemed to be liked by our classmates which is fantasic.

woohoo…it’s working!!

Filed under: Uncategorized — menc @ 7:30 am

ok firstly i would just like to say!! woohoo..this is the first time my compter decided to let me use this site..so sorry there hasn’t been any blogs prior to this one…now…on to drama!!!

The last week has been, in my opinion, rather stressful, i think it has suddenly just dawned on everyone just how close these performances actually are..i know its only just hit me.
thankfully though, my group is pretty much on track so i’m thankful that we are not too far behind on where we thought we should be up to by this stage.

I’ve been so impressed by some of the ideas that we have been able to come up with, and although they did take a while to get to exactly how we want them and to a point at which everyone can agree on them, i think that what they are now will really be effective on the night. well, i hope so anyway.

We have our scripts printed off now and just the fact that we have them there i think is making rehearsals run a lot smoother, and although we don’t need them all the time, they are alot more convenient than flipping through an entire folio for one small part that we have accidently forgotten or want to edit.

The only thing that is getting in the way of rehearsals at the moment is the fact that we don’t have any white material as yet, which is not exactly anyones fault..it’s just that when we went to buy some the store had all run out of white lycra and the other material shop wanted $21 per meter…which is ridicoulous…so we are planning on getting it on the weekend. It’s just a pain not being able to rehearse with it, but thankfully there is some other coloured material in the drama room that we can kind of use, just so we know that out scene is going to work.

anyway..lets just hope that the rest of the weeks rehearsals go well and that we are able to finish/edit the scenes that are giving us trouble!!
